The research scholar program has two tracks: Scholar-Practitioner and Community Health Practitioner training programs for students looking for research scholarship development.

Scholar-Practitioner Training Program

Training for graduate-level students in clinical programs (social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology) seeking advanced training in the practical application of scholarly knowledge and translational science.

Community Health Practitioner Program

Training for graduate-level public health scholars interested in community engagement in practice and fostering scholarly activities. Community Health Practitioner Trainees (CHPTs) work will include creating safe spaces for community advocacy and community health policy development.

Collective Training Model

SPTs and CHPTs will work closely together as interdisciplinary team members in partnership to advance the Institute's research and development program initiatives. Scholars are expected to disseminate findings through conferences, publications, and no traditional academic settings (i.e., churches, community forums, schools, town hall meetings). Scholars receive specialized training in social justice advocacy.
